You are purchasing one special tap set for just about every American built Harley-Davidson model at least into the 1980's. The tap and die or cutter are 1/4"-24 which was used on motor cases for gear or cam cover screws, tappet guides, oil pumps and there were various other applications on the bikes which used 1/4"-24 threads.
This thread is a real oddity in the engineering world. Harley-Davidson, as far as anyone knows, definitely was one of the biggest proponents of it. I'm not sure anyone knows why William S. Harley was so big on it.
We offer thread repair kits, and additional taps and dies for the special threads that H-D used over the years. We have taps for cylinder heads, cam covers and lifters, main shafts, grease zerks, Linkert carbs and other uses.
