You are purchasing:
  • Four ea. Chandler Products CP-1038 cold head bolts, Harley OEM# 4042, 5/16”-24 x 1 13/16”;
  • Four ea. 5/16”-24 x 17/64” x 1/2” hex nut, Harley OEM# 7752;
  • Four ea. 5/16” split lock washers Harley OEM# 7040.
All cad plated hardware.  Used to mount the saddlebag mounts to the rear fender struts on 1963-up FL and FLH.  Also used on earlier model exhaust systems and used as a front seat mount bolt on WL and Servicars from 1937 to 1973.

Original bolt in this location was 4041W which was 1 5/8” long, but those have become impossible to find...at least with CP-1038 stamping.

We have these in various head stamp configurations due to the use of different dies for cold-heading the bolts.  Unfortunately, you cannot specify which stamping configuration you will get as I can’t specify either.

These were used various places on all models such as exhaust systems.  The CP-1038 marking would make them “correct” for roughly 1949 to the mid 1960’s.  Be sure to check your own reference material.  Nuts and washers are USA made to the exact finish and standards H-D employed back in the day.

There seems to be some misinformation on CP bolts and "reproductions".  Chandler Products has always been willing to produce these bolts with large minimum quantity orders. There's either early production or current production. They changed head dies as they wore out and had multiple dies.  All nuts are USA made using the same process Harley used when they operated their own screw and nut equipment with the flat lands on them.  Spacers and washers are produced just like the ones H-D did back in the day.  Parkerizing is same finish as how these came from the factory in the 1950's.  I've also got other hardware kits listed in my store under "pre 1980's hardware" including all sorts of pre-sorted kits containing CP-1035 and CP-1038 bolts and other unique vintage H-D fasteners to meet your restoration needs.

A note on shipping:

Please understand sellers on eBay do not set the shipping rates.  Please also understand that sellers are charged a final value fee on the amount of shipping you are charged over and above the fees they pay on the sale and the Paypal transaction.  In addition to that, sellers have the expense of labels, shipping materials, padded mailers, etc.  I do charge a handling fee on some items, but I also offer several shipping options whenever possible to give you more affordable shipping choices.  If you ever think the shipping fee charged is too high, please let me know before leaving a low rating on shipping charges.  It’s rare that I receive such feedback, but I work hard to keep my customers happy.  I’d rather know if someone is unhappy before they leave a low rating.  That’s the only way I can solve a problem.  I don’t ever want a customer to go away unhappy!

Know who you are buying from! We are not a drop-ship operation, each and every part we sell is carefully inspected to assure you get the quality part described in the listing.  We have a no-hassle return policy, and we stand behind the parts we sell because we know what we are selling and shipping to our customers.  Before you make a purchasing decision compare our feedback vs. others.
We are aware eBay’s shipping calculator is not working correctly on combining shipping for some of our listings.  If the shipping amount eBay is trying to charge you seems high, please contact us immediately or simply click “request total from seller” and we will promptly manually calculate your shipping.  We always combine shipping on multiple item orders and will find the least expensive method which falls in line with how quickly you need your items.  Thank you!
