You are purchasing one European made reproduction of the timer, circuit breaker, or distributor cover for 1936-1965 Harley-Davidson twin motorcycles including Knucklehead, UL, K Model, Sportster, Panhead, WL, and Servicar models. The cover is yellow zinc plated and would have been correct for at least some of the earlier WW-II production era on both military bikes and civilian bikes as allowed under WPA restrictions and I believe was used on civilian models without the chrome package during certain early production years. We can get the same finish on timer stops and valve covers if you are restoring or building an early WLA or WLC.
The bail or clip is yellow zinc as well. This style cap was used on all manual advance timers into the mid-1960's. I do believe the Servicar went to auto-advance in 1964 followed by the Panhead in 1965, and Sportster in 1966. Please double check your Sportster or Servicar as I'm certain the Panhead changed with electric start in 1965.
